FROM DIAGNOSIS TO RECOMMENDATIONS

When we intervene, the first thing that comes to mind is the multiplicity of players and the variability of their impact on the performance of the IT department.

Moreover, when it comes to the business, IT, or finance departments, they each have their own vision. Our first recommendation is therefore to promote a cross-company vision, able to tackle the business, technological and financial challenges by addressing all the stakeholders. To make sure we are successful, we use agile methodologies, agility at scale and benchmarking methodologies (SAFE, IFPUG, etc.).

Sharing a strategic vision

Our approach to IT performance is 360 degrees. It applies to IT departments, regardless of their sector, but also to sub-areas of the IT department, whether they are teams or specific applications.
Depending on the priorities and the time that can be devoted to the analysis, each team member can focus on one aspect or another, given that the IT department is a plural entity with varying levels of performance from one team or application to another, depending on the complexity or the organizational model.

A qualitative assessment...

To carry out this performance diagnosis, our consulting approach combines both a qualitative and a quantitative assessment. From a qualitative perspective – which will provide an overview of the performance levers in each field of activity – our assessment covers a spectrum ranging from strategy or governance to more technical aspects.
After each iteration, interviews are conducted with the Business and IT regarding the level of performance achieved. They allow us to establish a qualitative assessment with ratings that lead to a materialization of the level of performance of the various areas.

Quantitative monitoring

These elements support a quantitative evaluation – benchmark type ratios – which range from the cost of IT vs. the company’s turnover, to Build vs. Run, to daily rate (internal/external), or Pareto based activities (breakdown of the time allocated to such and such an activity, from conception to design, tests, project management, etc.).
All this data allows us to construct an objective, factual vision, while identifying levers and explanatory data. It sheds light on the transformational levers that can be activated, thus aggregating the Business vision with that of the various IT stakeholders.
